PhilaRAT: Intergenerational Panel?

Ya'll,

One thing I constantly run into are sets of beliefs / expectations /
desires that differ wildly from generation to generation. There is
crossover, certainly. My question is whether anyone is actually
listening to the generation who will actually inherit theater. Do they
want a more 'extreme' in-your-face, confrontational theater (theatre
slams?)

Do folks who came of age in the '60's and '70's assume that Generation X
is mostly career driven, or that high school / college students are so TV
& music drenched that they don't have any perspective on the notion of
community?.

Do people in high school / college now think that the older theater
generation lives in a not-so-interesting fantasy world populated by
boring concepts, disproven theories, wrong-headed practice? Do they wish
that theater would die already?

Somehow I get the sense that the whole notion of RAT has very little to
do with the younger generation at all because the older heads don't
really give a shit what they think ("they'll come around") and don't
understand what they're saying anyway.

Poetry slams are packin em in. Why? (How about a theatre slam. (Actually,
improv groups like Comedy Sportz feed that desire.)

Cheers,
Cat
