RAT Power

This last word drew a great deal of my interest for
some reason, power, power and theatre - an interesting
discourse, what do you mean exactly by the word in
this context, for it can mean a number of things and I
don't want to lose myself in semantic noise by
commenting messily on them all at once... Power as
energy, power as use of such energy in control of
'other' (that is other then oneself be it objects,
events or people), power as the relationship between
audience and performer, power as that which theatre
deconstructs (political theatre, religious theatre,
NSK, theatre companies as organisations with power
structures, etc.)..-.. A lot of trap doors openable
with one little word - power.
I read once in Grotowski how directors have a tendency
towards sadism and actors towards masochism, thusly
power as an aspect of artist nature or motivation or
maybe just method or the consequence of the method?
I'm being confusing, I know, nut its just I read the
word and all these fragments of thought and question
came swirling through my mind and well, what does it
do to you?
