Yes but I think of completeness in the Universe in a
sense of bearing fruit, or flowering which seams to be
a tendency, plants tend to flower, flowers yearn to
turn to fruit in order for the seed to spread and
start new life, in the same sense I think works of art
should strive to be completely well grown err fruits,
nutritient and without pesticide, you know?
This metaphoric/symbolic/trascedental/generalising
talk is confusing me, I don't find it necessarily the
best way to approach concrete problems, but oh well.
Especially today in this semantic storms i appreaciate
those individuals who like to strive for purity and
clarity and finiteness, not in a sense of a limitation
but, in a way i guess I intimately like to think of a
work of art as a body, an organism, would you call a
human body finit? In a way yesy, but in another it is
infinite, when you look how its composed of organs,
cells, molecules, ... Theres infinite chaoses inthere,
yet normally nothing is out of place and the body
should ideally function, have the right ammount of
organs, heads etc. And an ideal work of art is like
this, a dynamic harmonic unit with its own laws but it
works, it clicks, it doesn't have any more heads or
arms or lungs then it requires nor lacks any, it
breathes, pumps blood etc. Anyone following this
bizzare metaphoric attempt of explaining? And however
you look at it it works. If you compare it's musical
aspects to iconographic it should work, actors work
should be in accordance with the light etc.
Thats what fascinates me about art, how all these
details that one cannot possibly rationally
synchronise one by one in the end work perfectly if
you get the flux/dynamic of it right, if you seal all
the holes etc, like building a house, like doing
anything complex, .... Like writing this mail which is
still half baked and unproperly finished thusly far
from a msetrpiece in its own field :)
