Maryann is right.  A lot of people continue to remind people of Kazan's 
actions because he cooperated with HUAC.  This was not a matter of private 
conscience (or not solely a matter, to give him the benefit of the doubt), it 
was a public act which helped further erode the rights of a lot of people and 
made it more difficult for those of conscience to withstand the pressure from 
Dies, Nixon, Cohn, etc.

When someone commits a public act that is intentionally damaging to others, i 
think it's in the realm of fair comment.

I'm talking about general principle here now.  I don't know enough about the 
specific incident to presume to comment on it.
