 If you are watching,  watch Florida too, and Nebraska, and Washington
State, where you can still choose hanging , and Idaho , where you can still
choose a firing squad. Read Dead Man Walking by Sister Helen Prejean.  Or
Belly of the Beast by Jack Abbott.

 If you want to do something- call the Living Theatre and request a copy of
Not in My Name, the piece we created. It is free to any community that
wants it.

 Also, check out Murder Victims Families for Reconcilliation.  In fact,
there is a legal document that you cansign saying that if you die as a
result of a violent crime, your family will refuse to bring charges if it
is deemed to be a capital case. Both you and your family must sign. Do
that.

 When I helped originate this piece in 1995 with The Living Theatre, I took
on the job of being the liason, which included  being liason to the prison-
there is another version of the piece in case of a stay of execution.

At that time, the piece was time-specific, so we relied on this
information. I must have talked to 20 Prison warden in about 12 states.
They all responded with the same line to indicate that  they hasd killed
someone that day.  " The operation is complete. Click. " Chilling , isn't
it, the  dehumanization inherent in  that phrase?

  Execution fact of the day: the day before a scheduled execution,
prisoners are shown a porno film to take their mind off the upcoming event.
 And people say theres no linkage in our society between sex and violence??
