Re: RAT Reading Series --What Brecht thinks (InTheLime)

Dear Ms. McCollogh

I thoroughly enjoyed your spirited response. I'm glad I was able to afford
you a laugh out loud. (I myself have been chuckling for days over the
response my "probes" have engendered. --- "Probes" being in the spirit of
Marshall McLuhan's more provocative statements about electronic
culture/communications)

I admire your determination to brag DOUBLY about your company. That's the
ticket. (And believe it or not, there's no subtext in any of the above, or
below, in this letter.)

Yes, I, too, wouldn't be at it if I'd let early playwriting teachers
discouraged me. The proper response to an attack on one's work is to laugh
it off or ignore it.

The proper response to critiques of professional behavior is to laugh it off,
ignore it, or make amends.

Is our work any good? That's for others to say -- including audiences who
keep coming back.

Quote of the year is Aileen's: "I think you better have a pretty solid ego
if you want to stay sane in this business. But then again, I'm not sure I'm
still sane...so maybe you need a solid ego to go insane too!
