The only difference between this genocide and the ten or twenty other
genocides we've been vaguely entertained by over the course of the past ten
years or so is the immensity of the propaganda machine (the political
theatre and tele-theatre) telling us that this is the most horrible thing
since WWII.  But I wonder what makes this more horrible than the goings on
in Rwanda or Chiapas or Cambodia.  Call me short sighted, but the biggest
differences seems to me to be the color of the victims' skin and the
proximity of these events to the "western" (as if there were any eastern
left) world.
