what the big deal about unsoli.... scripts. theater is a communal art form.
writers need to learn how to put on their own work. put it up. in a bar, at a
church, make up a flyer, invent a fringe festival. get a director. develop a
community of artists to work with. a family or a cult or a professional
corporate relationship. let's see, who have i met that has done this? hmm.
every rat playwright mentioned so far and all those udder ones... i know. this
script thing. very incomplete information. up on it's feet. that's something.
live spectacle. am i falling asleep in the theater watching my own dear words.
did this crazy person who directed and this other crazy one acting, get at
something about this work that surprised the heck out of me. nightmares and
happy dreams. will i ever work with these people again. how do i work with
these people now. and my sacred artistic vision... has to go through them...
my god.... anyone in the audience have something to say. anything get over to
them from my precious script... maybe that's why back there somewhere on the
thread a lot of theater artists never got an mfa. if you haven't done the
process yourself how will you know when those intelligent, intellectual people
who read all those books are fucking it up or just missing the point/.
