RAT Re: Rat Spat

----------

Dear John,

I've been really grateful for the lively discussion generated here and all
the requests for my plays and advice and opinions offered by the RATs.

I've reviewed my posts and don't know why you and Matt are saying i've been
shooting down every comment in a negative way, or not believing my plays
will be produced and not expecting the best, or making accusations of
sexism....i've been misunderstood then.

I apologize to the rats if my posts sounded whiny, negative, or as if i was
venting so much that i needed to take a walk and clear my head. I feel hurt
by these comments. My intent was not to complain, but to solve issues such
as "how to break in" or "who does the staged reading serve?"

I understand your connection to and belief in Annex but i was just trying to
explain that for me, that model doesn't work. i went out on a limb
and....maybe it was not okay to say that on this list. On the other hand i
don't want to be silenced.

I've had a long career in theatre and i've been really successful in the
past but now i happen to be disappointed and frustrated...so i'm sure my
posts may be hard to read, but i am just being authentic about some of my
negative experiences. I hope i can share these experiences without being
treated like i need self help, or told that if i keep on doing what i'm
doing i'll be unproduced forever...

If you think i'm negative...you've obviously never met Jeff Jones, Mac
Wellman, or Maria Fornes in person...

I don't know how this productive discussion about issues descended into
criticisms of my posts...i own that i have misrepresented myself, and not
put my best put forward. i'm hurt that you're "turned off" by my posts, but
i have a right to self expression, and comments like that are better left
unwritten.
