The situation you're in sounds wonderful. Great good fortune to you and
your compatriots. Of course it's not all the fault of grad schools. Of
course the individual is most definitely the defining factor. But the
human spirit (especially the american human spirit in my take) is
anything but indomitable. Especially when grades (future), social
standing (present), skill (instinct), talent (past) are at stake.

I've always believed that no one should be allowed to attend university
until they are at least 21 years of age.
