Re: RAT (if not) now (when)

Getting restless last night, I looked on Playbill Online, and, of course, the
top news stories were about how all the theatres in NY, DC, Chicago, etc.
were shut down due to the disaster. In the story about NY, it was written,
"There is no word if the TKTS both at the World Trade Center has been
destroyed."
Well, let's see.....two 110 story buildings collapsed, so i dont think the
dinky little both has about to survive. it just seems like such a trivial
point to bring up during such a horrible time.
I also received an e-mail from colleague in theatre that just said that we
should think about the "new producers" and how much money theatres are losing.
As much as i love and support the arts, there is a hell of a lot bigger
problem going on now.
Up here at Fordham, we are in a very odd position. We are on the island of
manhattan and are feeling the eerie silence on the street. However, we are so
far away from the actual disaster, that it sometimes feel like it hasnt
actually happened. tonight is the first time that we have been able to smell
any smoke. everything seems so peaceful up here that it makes you feel so
guilty to do anything remotely normal. Including producing art.
