My producer and I have been discussing this for most of the day --
especially owing to some of the content of our show -- grief, loss, body
count, etc.
Ultimately, we're going ahead with our shows, mostly because we both agreed
that it's important, at times like this, to bring people together. I got
into theatre because I believe that the experiences that get shared between
the people in little dark 99-seat rooms are more valuable than the ones that
happen at home alone, or in front of the TV.
We're also planning to donate the box office of our Thursday show to the Red
Cross. Maybe this is just a token to ease the guilt we feel, for any
implied disrespect. But we're artists, and we agreed it's more
disrespectful to stop.
(I'm also attaching the message that the producer sent to our company.)
