Eclectic Electric Workshop Series
Where: 24th Street Theatre, 1117 West 24th Steet, Los Angeles (24th and

What: a series of unusual workshops designed for performers and theatre
professionals. Take 1 class or enroll in all 6.

CENTERING FOR PERFORMANCE July 24, 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Who hasn't experienced anxiety and stage fright from time to time? This workshop will instruct
performers in hatha yoga postures and meditation techniques that can be used
during rehearsal and pre-performance to calm and center the mind and
emotions.
~Instructor NAADER SHAGAGI is the founder of Yoga Kingdom Sanctuary in
Pasadena. He is also the current Director of the Southern California Yoga
Teachers Association. A disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda, Naader emphasizes
both the spiritual and physical aspects of yoga in his classes.

THE WAY IN July 31, 7 to 9 p.m.
Whether creating a one-person show, or exploring a character in a play new to you, you need to get inside the
person you're portraying. Discover some new ideas and unusual spins on old
ones in this class aimed at performers who'd like to work deeper and more truthfully.

SURVIVING THE DOWNTIMES August 7, 7 to 9 p.m.
Honing Your Creative and Business Skills When the Going Gets Tough. We've all been therethe times
when you can't get arrested, never mind cast. This interactive workshop will
offer tools designed to nurture and inspire. The evening will include
lecture, discussion, and playful, valuable acting exercises.
~Instructor CARRA ROBERTSON is a coach, actress, publisher of ACTORMAGAZINE,
and author of "Meditations for Actors: For the Actor Within Us All."

IT'S A COMMERICAL, COMMERICAL, COMMERCIAL WORLD August 14, 7 to 9 p.m.
Ever just wanted to talk to someone who's been in the trenches a long time before
succeeding in booking commercials? Someone who will give you genuine insight
into what works and what doesn't work for them in getting a booking? Someone
who doesn't fit traditional casting and makes it work? Try this class on for
size.
~Instructor PAMELA GORDON has appeared in a number of national commercials.
As an actress/director, her work has been seen in films, television and at
theatres such as Theatre of NOTE, The Evidence Room and 24th Street.

PR 101:Getting Personal with Public Relations August 21, 7 to 9 p.m.
This is an inside look at arts PR from the basics to fine-tuning a publicity
campaign, with an emphasis on tailoring the materials and approach to a
specific project. What should be in a press release? Where do I get a press
list? Get help in figuring out how LA's many media outlets can help you find
an audience.
~Instructor JENNIE WEBB worked as a publicist for LA theatres and arts
organizations for more than 10 years. She is also a nationally recognized
playwright, a freelance writer, and a theatre critic for KCRW-FM.

SPEAKING SHAKESPEARE August 28, 7 to 9 p.m.
Even the most experienced actors can get a little queasy approaching the Bard's lines. We'll talk
about breath, working with iambic pentameter, rhymed couplets and prose.
Bring your classical audition piece (Shakespeare only, please). Some of
these will be worked on during classtime.
~Instructor JANIS HASHE was trained as a classical actress both in the U.S.
and in London. Currently a Board of Directors member and producer at Theatre
of NOTE, she also teaches her class "Shakespeare for the Elizabethan
Impaired" at several colleges.
