Re: RAT v TCG: Anarchy v. Organization
Rats:
This whole thread has made me see RAT as more of a
tribal gathering, and i'm getting the idea that it, in
itself, is a giant potlatch. As such, everyone who
attends should feel obliged to bring a "gift"...be it
performance, wisdom or workshop, or materials. the
"host", to me, might maintain the role of "tour guide"
or perhaps the builder of locations (make a tent,
provide a lecture hall, theatre, etc.). but i'm not
sure if hosting, in the sense of hospitality, requires
the host to DO anything other than open their doors.
the GUESTS are the ones that have the social custom of
bearing gifts and helping out.
this also makes me think about festivals...carnivale
and such. as adam brought up, perhaps a true
"festival" might be a good next-move. a gathering of
the tribes, bearing gifts, in an outdoor expanse,
could be quite interesting. Rainbow gatherings, pagan
gatherings, and the like, combine ritual performance
and art performance. if rat is going to try something
like that, i'd love to attend!
hakim bey likes to mention henri corbin's term for the
location of the hidden Imam-of-One's-Own-being,
"mundus imaginalis"...the imaginal world. rat, to me,
has a strong element of the imaginal, not just in
performance but in existence, and i'd love to see that
develop more. less logistics, more "imaginistics"
