Re: RAT v TCG: Anarchy v. Organization

TIM,
I like the idea. (Kind of falls under the "Rat-list folks create the conference" notion in my earlier post.). The logistics actually require a "host" of sorts, though, since:

- camping arrangements have to be made / paid for -- if facilities like showers, toilets are provided
- tents, etc have to be provided for people flying in, since they can't be expected to bring them
- food has to be shlepped in from somewhere by someone
- out-of-towners need to be transported to the site

But I like the idea of people bringing pieces of the conference with them -- as long as play and performance are included! And I especially like the isolation, which helps to break down "us" vs "them" bubbles.

Cheers

Sounds like Tim would like to attend the gathering.  The Rainbow Gathering.

Isn't it in Seattle this year?  Watch the papers on July 4.

Susan -

Don't know if I'm earthy or crunchy enough for anything like the gathering or
Burning Man... just want to find a place where there is no true "host city"
to speak of... or anyone truly responsible for making ALL of it happen.  If
everyone was coming from a different direction, each with a tiny piece of the
puzzle... the folks in Philly (or NYC or LA or anywhere else....) wouldn't
find it necessary to be "responsible" for the success of the conference...
everyone could share that responsibility.

And it's kind of nice to think of everyone being on equal footing in terms of
where folks are eating, hanging out, crashing for the night.... no need to
worry about finding floor space or couches or anything....  and I just like
camping... :)

come to think of it, maybe I am a bit crunchy... :)
