RAT PhilaRat attendance and ArtistSalon.com
Jason,
Are you or someone from ArtistSalon coming to the rat conference this month
in Philadelphia?
--nick
Dear Nick:
I do not have your direct email, thus the post.
I'm doing Coriolanus and will not be in attendance (and am dirt poor
currently :-P ). As for the other ArtistSalon organizers, they are neither
on the BCT list nor the RAT list and are not aware of the PhilaRAT
conference. Their careers: 2 Actresses, 1 Screenwriter, 1
Filmmaker/Editor, 1 Theatrical Agent, 1 Musician (Bass) and another Actor
like myself. They would certainly find value in being a member of BCT or
RAT; yet one of the strengths of ArtistSalon lies in the diverse communities
from which we collectively draw.
We have some lofty goals for this endeavor. Paramount among these is that
we will never charge a dime - we provide the beer, wine, food, etc. for
these events.
Another goal is the growth of ArtistSalon to occur simultaneously in other
cities around the nation (and the world). There are many ways that we are
ready and excited to facilitate such an evolution.
Imagine www.ArtistSalon.com having on its opening page, in addition to the
overall mission statement, the list of participating cities and a Salon
Dates schedule for the next 5 months. By clicking the appropriate city's
index page (Philadelphia for example) you would find links to that city's
artists and organizations for the ArtistSalon in Philadelphia. Also, a list
of past guests and performers with links from each name to the website they
represent. Or, say you'll be in Chicago for a wedding during the Los Angeles
Salon - check out the Chicago Salon since you know it will be happening the
same day as L.A. (or Philadelphia).
In these monthly Salons, people perform 15-20 minute excerpts from their
plays or solo shows, bring samples from their new clothing lines, show
photography or paintings, show excerpts from their films, play their cd's or
perform live - and this being the vehicle to create awareness and unity for
their art as well as allow for serendipity!
So, as such, we are excited for other cities that happen to read this post
to come join us in bringing together all the communities of creativity, one
city at a time, linking the world. And, by all means, come to an
ArtistSalon when you are in Los Angeles.
I do look forward to meeting you Nick. Christopher DeWan speaks very highly
of you.
Regards,
Jason Waters
