Re: RAT In support of in-home, in-class, on-line theater

Some of the new science-related plays deal (at least partly) with what
interests me the most -- how the act of being involved with technology
influences people's lives. We have lots of work that uses cellphones and
email and a certain amount of robotics. What theater can do is stay
*ahead* of film in dealing with future events. Case in point: research is
moving well along toward objects with embedded intelligence -- so that
the talking toaster in "Red Dwarf" isn't that far off. We also have rooms
that will be able to alter their coating/appearance based on the mood of
individuals (or counter to it).

Lots of food for interesting writing and performance out there right on
major tech center websites.

My own stuff tends to focus on nanotechnology. What happens as the
ability to create objects/buildings from dirt/seawater becomes a reality.
How does that threaten existing interests? How will home-applications of
nanotech affect our daily lives?

Cheers,
Cat Hebert
