Re: RAT A Missive from PHILLY to ALL YOU FIERCE ARTISTS OUT THERE
Dennis,
I'm totally with you about Philadelphia and its affordable climate for
doing theater. That's one of the reasons why Thieves Theatre is relocating
here.
But,

These are completely unacceptable odds. If I were looking for a $50,000
budgets (which I'm not), I'd rather go to Atlantic City and play
high-stakes poker for a week, where I know that my skill at the game and
execution at the table will get me the same amount, except for those nights
when my betters are at the table. At least there I'm playing MY game and
learning to hone it.
Many theaters are spendying all their time vying for those 2 in 173, often
even adjusting or tweeking their "art" to fit what they _think_ that panel
wants to see and hear. (The Box Office game is very similar.) Soon
there's no center holding anymore, no memory of why they got in the game in
the first place.
Best,
Gaby
