one of the most interesting (and overlooked aspects)
of ritual is the use of language...good rituals that
utilize language are formed around words that contain
power...like sealed envelopes that open when you speak
them. they can be called "memes" if you like, or you
can just refer to them as powerful/effective words.
there are even alphabets/languages specifically
written for magickal purpose, and thus have no
cultural associations (the enochian language, for
example, created by John Dee in the 16th century to
speak with the angels).

and ritual can incorporate anything...poetry, art,
drama, dance, music. why not incorporate focused,
efficient words? techniques such as NLP
(neurolinguistic programming) emphasize the use of
transformational grammar to induce altered states.
effective use of words can create many things in
listeners. and i think this relates to the power of
theater...what separates writing that moves listeners
from writing that bores them?

i'm a writer-guy too...so i can appreciate how you
might not see the relevance with ritual. i was hoping
this would come up at the ritual section and that
those of you who write/speak your passions would join
the fray.
