MISSION: To provide an opportunity for students to write and perform
their,own solo work a weeklong, intensive, workshop environment using
off-Broadway bound, 14-year veteran, Rob Nash's techniques. The class will
stress getting your work in front of an audience and will include a recital
for family and friends at the end of the series. Surprise your audience
and yourself! Get under the gun of class deadlines and overcome the
obstacles that are keeping you from your dream!
SOMEOF THE POSSIBLE GENRES: Narrative monologues/storytelling (like
Spaulding Gray), character monologues (like John Leguizamo), solo character
dialogues—where the writer performs all characters speaking to each other
(like Lily Tomlin), performance art (like Tim Miller and Karen Finley),
stand-up comedy (Like Chris Rock and George Carlin)…
INSTRUCTOR: Rob Nash’s stand-up has been seen on VH-1 and ComedyCentral.
He’ll appear in the documentary/concert film/comedy “F*@k the Disabled”
about the solo work of Greg Walloch (Rob will play himself, Greg’s friend).
His epic, one-man play, Freshman Year Sucks! Sophomore Slump, Junior Blues
and Senioritis, The Holy Cross Quadrilogy will be produced by TheNew York
Theatre Workshop at PS122, October 2001. This work is a multi-age,
multi-ethnic character ensemble epic where Rob plays the entire 42 member
cast without costumes or props.

COST AND DEPOSIT: $200 for 17 hours of workshop and performance time. $100
deposit due before Wednesday, April 11. $100 balance due Monday, April 16,
