THE WOODEN BREEKS is a darksome comic fairytale about unrequited love and
premature death in a town called Brood. "Its Brigadoon -- miserable and down
on its luck," said playwright Glen Berger. The text has a lyricism
reminiscent of Dylan Thomas Under Milkwood, and the humor and scope of
Dickens.

And heres a little exposition from the press release, if you care to read it:

Across 19th Century Great Britain, a panic spreads. Unearthed coffins have
been found to contain scratch marks on the inside of the lid. Mistakenly
pronounced dead, more and more victims are discovered to have been
prematurely buried alive. To prevent further catastrophes, companies begin
producing "bell devices" that sit on top of the customers grave and connect
to his coffin, where, finding himself awake, he can trigger the bell and
alert the town.

With one more device to sell to make her quota, Miss Spoon, representative of
the Bodum & Wattney Company, has come to the last town on her tour: Brood, a
dismal famine-plagued village. Her presence causes an uproar, but, failing
to make a sale, she dies mysteriously, and her last bell device is installed
upon her own grave. But has she really died, or is it all an elaborate
publicity stunt? Her would-be suitor, the lighthouse keeper, attempts to
find an answer before its too late, while the destitute villagers debate what
to do with the strongbox full of money left behind

A gravedigger who may be a grave robber; a vicar who seems to lose
everything; young lovers who see poetry in every cloud; a wretched orphan
whom everyone picks on; a lighthouse keeper who lives only on tea and has
never left his tower; and a metal tinker whose memories live in the stories
he spins and the puppets he makes. The production also features original
metal puppets, shadow puppets, miniatures, and stage magic!

The cast of THE WOODEN BREEKS includes: Martha Demson (Open Fist Artistic
Director, The Abdication); Matthew Fox (star of Fox TVs Party of Five); Adam
LeBow (Measure for Measure); Russell Milton (Gattaca, The Crossing Guard);
