For Handy: I think the considering of the result is what corrupts the
process. I do not think the work is ever completed. Ever. Is the universe
completed?
Perhaps you might say I sound esoteric, but I think this is the most natural
thing in the world, it's not new age, it's as old as the hills.
And in regard to growth in a discipline/freedom-consistant workout, it's a
practice. It's just washing dishes - it goes past the washing, it is in the
doing, in the cleansing. hard to put this into words. It is in the everyday
doing, that's why I do not differentiate my life from my doing theatre, it's
all one of the same, but theatre is life without the garbage of life. It's
more crystalline, more striving, more of a workout for a feeling of truth
(life does not offer us many opportunities to develop ourselves as human
beings - not much tasks out there training our will. our thought. our higher
feelings - theatre does). The condensed format of theatre, the constant
striving of logical, sequential, expediency of action, of honest
communication with my partners, and the knowledge that human beings cannot
create alone, is in my practice.
