RAT posting again: Annex call for writers

I heard from several people that couldn't open the attachment I sent
yesterday.
Here's the text about Annex's call for ANNEX HOTHOUSE. It may not look as
pretty but the info is here. Thanks!

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:
CALL FOR WRITERS

CONTACT(s): Hothouse Coordinators : Bruce Hall, Ken Judy, Tricia
Sexton
    (206)-728-8081

December 14, 2000 – Seattle

Annex Theatre is pleased to announce a call for playwrights to
participate in the third annual Annex Hothouse, a unique creative workshop
hosted by Annex Theatre.

SUMMARY FOR PRINT
Annex Theatre announces a call for playwrights for Annex Hothouse 2001.
For two weeks (May 12 – 26, 2001), Annex will host four writers who will work
with directors and actors to create new pieces of theater. The event
culminates in public performances on the Annex Mainstage. Call
(206)-728-8081 for application guidelines and further information.

During two weeks (May 12 – 26, 2001), Annex will host writers in
residence to work with a director and actors to create a new piece of
theater. Rehearsals will be scheduled evenings and weekends with days free
for writing, meeting with directors, or exploring Seattle. The event
culminates in public performances of the work in progress on the Annex
Mainstage. At least one performance will be followed by an audience and
artist discussion of the creative processes that led to these works. A
reading series will also take place during the week prior of Hothouse to
present readings of previously-written works by the guest playwrights.
The projects themselves have very few constraints. They must be between
15 minutes and one hour long; range in cast size from 3 to 8 (assigned
according to writers' expressed needs at the beginning of the process); and
may be in any stage of polish or lack thereof. They may take any "form" the
artists involved can imagine and create but must be written from scratch
on-site within the two week time frame.

This event is about cultivating new collaborative relationships and the
potential for new work. Annex Hothouse is not an end in itself, but a venue
for initiating potentially ongoing relationships.

Directors will be assigned with the writers' particular interests and
desires in mind. The director may take the role of traditional director,
Dramaturg or facilitator. Directors will be paired with writers based on the
writer's stated interest in a specific kind of relationship and the
director's interests and skills in the various roles.
To apply as a writer to Annex Hothouse 2001, please submit 10 to 20 pages
of script text from a previous work (again, this is not intended to be a
start to the project you will work on during Hothouse but rather a writing
sample upon which to evaluate your application), and a letter of interest
addressing the following questions:
1. Why do you want to participate in this project?
2. How do you propose to use this project? Describe your goals and way of
working within such a structure and your ideal relationship with a
director/dramaturg/facilitator.
3. Riff on what you know about Annex (or your impressions of Annex based on
the attached fact sheet) and why you're interested in working there.

Please send your applications via e-mail to: hothouse@annextheatre.org

or mail it to: Hothouse
