Re: RAT Gore, gosh darnit!

This, I thought, was a terrific post.  Something it brings to the discussion, which I think is missing, is a sense of nuance.  This is something which we all covet in our artistic lives.  But when it comes to politics, we start talking in absolutes.  

I must agree with this point:  that political conservatism and judicial conservatism are not identical, and sometimes they aren't even similar.  If you have taken the time to read the discussions of the nine justices on various points, you'll find that all of them, from whatever political bent, have very generous and subtle minds, and are given to making fine distinctions.  Their arguments are not the idiot yattering  of the political rally;  their they are, from what I've seen, earnest, polikte and well reasoned.  

I just hope that my posts to the Rat List maintain the same standards.
