RAT FW: [bigcheap] PA - Voting Nader, Republican, or Republican Lite
My appologies to those on both lists, but thought the Seattle crew would
like in on what one of the fold thinks.....

Hello, BCTers;
First, thanks to those who have spread kind words about the show in which I
am currently involved, Circle X's "In Flagrante Gothicto".
I have been reading the debate about whether to vote for Nader or against
Bush with great interest. It seems many people are long-term idealist and
short-term pragmatist. I concur with this point of view. I am sickened,
however, that I am endlessly prevented from voting for anyone I really want
in
the office, lest I "waste" my vote. I also think it would be a tremendous
boon
to our (virtually) one-party system to force a true alternative. To that
end,
I intend to use the same strategy this year that I employed in the last
presidential election: take advantage of my time zone.
When I became disgusted with Bill Clinton for conducting a presidency
somewhere to the right of Gerald Ford's (no kidding; check their records), I
became interested in Nader. I was afraid, however, that a vote for Nader was
a
vote for Dole. I waited until the last hour I could vote, and when I was
sure
we were safe, I went to the polls and voted for Nader. I recommend the same
strategy this year. "But wait", you may say, "it will be too close to play
that game." Perhaps, but why go into this, more than a month away from the
election, determined to vote Gore? We don't need to resign ourselves to that
yet. And if Nader's percentages are high enough- well, there's a lot for
real
liberals to gain.
Just a thought.
If anyone wishes to reply off list, please e-mail me at

Thanks.
