Re: RAT New York shows
In NYC: saw LAByrinth Theater Company's "Jesus Hopped the A Train"
written by Stephen Adly Guirgis, directed by Philip Seymour Hoffman, now
playing at Center Stage (48 W. 21 St btwn 5th + 6th), ... awesome,
stunning, and so much more. I must say that it seems that this work is
nearer to refreshingly pure theatre in a certain way. The sum of its
performance, narrative, design and themes fairly make an autonomous
creation that could not be film, video, or internet content. I would
not hesitate to recommend "Jesus Hopped the A Train" to anyone, but I
emphatically suggest that theatre makers go see it. Tickets are very
hard to come by, call 212-929-2228.
Also, I believe that "Deli Dances" are nigh. This is a series of
performances, mostly in the dance/movement theatre genre, in Times
Square in a space that was once a deli, during lunchtime and free to the
public. I think that they did one yesterday in the Times Square subway
station. These new and highly original pieces are usual pretty wild and
rather short. Persons who are particularly interested in innovative
ways of bring theatre to the people should check out "Deli Dances."
