Description:
Pangea World Theater continues to bring the World to Minnesota with the
fascinating story of Rashomon (made world-famous by the Kurosawa film). Our
adaptation, based on the original short stories, uses three actors to create
this epic tale.
In the forest outside of Kyoto, a horrible crime takes place. Three people
are brought together by fate. What happens between them and who is
responsible? Each character attempts to answer, but leaves three
contradictory stories of what might have taken place. The ultimate authority
for determining the truth lies with a judge who is racked by doubt. Who is
telling the truth? Flashbacks, sensuous imagery, and dramatic action combine
in this compelling Japanese tale about the relativism and unknowability of
truth.
