Here's a chance for theatre's to build their audiences for tomorrow. On May 20th, L.A.'s second annual International Performing Arts Festival for Youth will be held at USC. Last year's festival brought several thousand theatre-goers to see over a dozen theatre companies (not all of whom normally do theatre for young audiences) including the fabulous Jude Narita and Timothy Busfield's theatre company from Sacramento. All theatres are invited to set up a table on the festival's "Theatre Row" with brochures and information to publicize your theatre and upcoming events. You needn't be a "children's theatre company"! The goal is : (a) to promote theatre in LA by giving theatres a chance to network and attract new audiences (b) to encourage all cutting-edge companies and theatres to rethink, and in fact, redefine what is challenging and sophisticated theatre for young audiences. It's the only way to ensure that we all have a theatre audience for tomorrow and a cause that deserves LA's best artists! That's you! Tables are only $15 per day, plus $5 for each chair you need. (Weds 5/17-Friday 5/19 are schoolday student perfomances, Saturday May 20th is the public day.) Canopied 10x12 Boothes are available too for $150 per day, though you are not permitted to sell any tiems without working it out with the USC folks. 24th Street Theatre is co-producing the event with USC's School of Theatre, The LA Children's Museum, Performing Tree, and many other arts organizations.
