Re: RAT The Sassies!!!!

I have had the good fortune to work with one of Mexico's finest theater
artists, Abrahm
Oceranski . His work is known all over Latin America, and he now has a small
following here in Dallas where he has been given the opportunity to produce
his works at one of our finest theaters, Teatro Dallas.
His themes are mostly western/latin but his performance style is Japanese
Kabuki and Noh theater.
Most recently he produced a work here called TALES FROM THE MIST based on
Akira
Kurosawa's ROSHOMON, which was transcendant. He transposed the original
setting from imperial Japan to pre Mexican-American war. Set was minimal and
costumes were a combination Texas frontier and imperial Japan. Masks and
ritual chanting borrowed from meso american and Carribean religious
ceremonies lent the piece and earie mythic
quality.
This year he is coming back to Dallas with a show called IMMOBILE JOURNEY
(or
Viaje Imobile in spanish) based on Shakespeare's Macbeth . The cast consists
of three women.
If anyone is going to be in Dallas within the coming month ,and is interested
in a pure theatrical experiance, I urge you to see it.
I was going to nominate his play, Tales from the Mist, but thought twice
about it, since it is very likely that only a few of the Dallas rat-listers
saw it.
