RE: RAT Less Work! More Filling! / Sylvain

  --------
RAT audience development in 4 easy steps.

     How to succeed in theatre

  1. Secure a permanent space with air conditioning and indoor plumbing.
1A. Create a theater company with multicultural components and a variety of ages (never mind that theatre people who complain most about non-multicultural casts historically have cast their own plays with anglos)
1C. Intimidate the Times into at least a cautious review following an intimidating public panel.
   2. Do great work and offer real, not bogus nudity, and cool N.Y.-style mystery plays, not shrill, overly sentimental sketches.
   3. Use large casts made up of many different people and tell them to tell their friends; browbeat your cast and insist it's their fault the houses aren't larger.
  4. Never repeat yourself.
  5. Remember to tell yourself: It's only a big, cosmic joke at the core.
