David,
The precepts that make up what we understand today as Christianity ( love
tht neighbor as thyself, turn the other cheek...) those precepts existed
long before they were codified into a religion called Christianity. In
fact, Monica Sjoo, in her book the Cosmic Egg, makes a compelling
argument for a pacifist , matriarchal society in Ancient Sumer that was
based on these principles.
Just as Marx most likely wouldn't be a Marxist- I doubt that the
historical Jesus would find much common ground with Randall Terry. One of
the things that I treasure is about Erik is that his fundamental value
structure seems to espouse these very pre-institutional Christian mores.
The communalists in the caves, if you will. This is a part of history
that hs been erased by time, yet Erik , in his small way, is (re)
presenting it. Oh, by the way- down with tickets.
