RAT less work

Michael,
With all due respect, your "less theatre" policy has been discussed here in
LA and roundly rejected as an ineffective solution. And who said people
aren't going to see theatre?People are going to see theatre. The last three
shows I have seen in LA (this month in intimate theaters) have been sold
out.And others have been extended and sold out that I couldn't see.(Circle
X, Playwrights Arena, Cornerstone, The Actors Gang,Moving Arts, The Evidence
Room, The Burglers Of Hamm, ALL SOLD OUT SHOWS THIS MONTH.We are all in need
of more audience, but why think of it as "nobody sees theatre." If nobody
sees theatre, why are there so many of us doing it and surviving? Somebody
is obviously coming. Who are you producing for? I don't believe the solution
for getting more people to come to the theatre is by doing less. You cant
stifle the need of an individual artist or group. The expression must come
first and always be welcomed. Los Angeles welcomes more theatre than any
other city, 20 shows a week open here. That's a blessing not a problem.
