Re: RAT A short brad/Lee tale
I actually hadn't known Brad had sprained his ankle. I just thought he was
struggling with his suitcases.
I'm not "conservative" if you mean in a political sense. (Or in any sense.)
I'm not sure what "conservative" means in the current climate;
reauthorizing the nuclear test ban would've been the "conservative" thing
to do; this rejection of it is radical. (Or reactionary.) My politics are
all over the map. I enjoy debating issues with Brad because a) I think
he's wrong (which always makes for a fun debate) and his lack of proofs and
examples seems to back me up; b) because he's up to the level of the
challenge intellectually; and c) because he's a good sport. I don't think
we agree on anything except the importance of theatre and of RAT.
It sounds as thought Brad made a mistake or two in setting up the reading
series. He could've been more sensitive to the issues surrounding the
cancelation of Karen's reading. So shoot him. He'll do better next time. He
didn't promise her a rose garden, let travel money. Readings get canceled,
accidents happen, trains get derailed. Brad will learn from his mistakes; I
hope Karen learns from hers, especially since, given that this is only the
latest time that she's presented herself in this light on the rat-list,
attacking theatre people in relation to her work, she's making herself look
bad.
Lee
p.s. to Dennis: Did you come to the RAT Conference? I don't remember
meeting you.
p.p.s. to Brad: You have my back? I've been looking for that. Please
return it. Thanks.
