Re: RAT CONFERENCE 99 INFO
Hey RAT folk -
I've been viewing the list for a while now - initially turned onto it by the
snippets that Mitchell Gossett (of Bottom's Dream) has been forwarding to us
on the BCT list serve, here in L.A. I immediately got the distinct feeling
that a conglomeration of theatrical Dharma Bums and heat-seeking luminaries
riding too much (or too many magic buses) were descending on Los Angeles like
a much needed rain, and to tell you the truth my creative panties have been
wet ever since. Can't wait for you all to arrive - although the thought of
numerous theater folks spending days cramped together in r.v.'s sharing chili
recipes does have me pondering the possibility of getting Pepto Bismal to
sponsor the chili cook-off thing (we'll pray for ocean breezes.)
Anyhoo - I wasn't sure whether the whole event was centered on discussion and
pre-planned events, or whether y'all would have the opportunity to see some
unscheduled theater. Given what Mitchell said in his latest e-mail, it seems
you all have Saturday night relatively free, and I'd like to be one of the
first to invite you down to see our work. "Our" and "We" meaning the fine
folks here at Zoo District Theatre Company - located in lovely Downtown Los
Angeles, just a stone's throw away from LATC. We'll be in production with
"The Two-Character Play" by Tennessee Williams, (or at least a close
appoximation of it.) This is a deconstructed, "GEE, I think I've got a new
asshole" version, and I would love to have the opportunity to get you all
down to see it, and then cleverly discuss it while consuming unfathomable
amounts of intoxicants (Remember: some people (God Bless them) get high on
life, art, the smell of gas, etc.) Sooo -
Come one, come all !
We'll find ways of keeping you posted on all the pertinent details, but I
just wanted to give you a heads up, so that when the hats get tossed into the
ring, our hat will find it's way onto a number of RAT-tastic heads.
So that's all -
(except that if there are any RATs coming from or through Colorado, would you
bottle me a little fresh air - I miss that sky!)
With great anticipation -
Gleason Bauer
