And isn't it a shame that when we talk about alternative we are immediately 
discussing money instead of WORK-- 

When I was in Australia recently, at this playwrights conference, I sat on 
this panel where everyone went down the line (including me) and whined about 
how hard it is, there's no money, how we suffer... funding cuts etc.  Then 
one person there began to talk about his WRITING, his work, what he was 
investigating, and the whole theatre came alive for an instant... that's  
what it's all about, that's what all the suffering is for, yet we never talk 
about that.

(though there is that Oscar Wilde quote  "amateurs talk about art, artists 
talk about money")
