influenced the course of history over the past 100 years.
The first phase of polling for the Person of the Century is over. We've
scrutinized the results so far, removing whimsical and inappropriate
entries. Here's the list in order of standing now, as we head into the
final summer of the century and the selection by the Editors of TIME late
