Re: RAT ANTI-NATO-ART
Wow. I just went through the sixty-some-odd bits of thought about this and I
continue to be as baffled as before. At any given moment, there are more
acts of oppression, murder, violence being committed than we could possible
count, or even know about. The additional tragedy is the selectivity of
which, if any, of these acts we are "told" to be upset about. The "Western
Democracies" (i.e. the corporate part of the world) has spent most of the
last fifty years telling us that free markets and money will save the world.
That it's not about religion, or morality, or ethnicity. Well, what if the
U.S. took the ten billion it's about to spend on bailing out another S&L and
had simply gone to Milosovic and said, "We will pay you one billion a year
for the next ten years to allow us to peacefully help rebuild your country
and create a stable, free society". If all any one of these "third-world"
nations wants is money, let's give 'em some. I wish it was that easy, but
it's not. The world is made up of mostly arbitrary borders and we're all
just a bunch of groups of tribes of families who see the world as "us and
them". There are no simple answers, and until every covert op and shady
backroom business deal and one-sided media coverage is exposed, we're going
to continue to find ourselves having heartfelt discussions about what should
have been done after the fact.
Thank you for letting me spout, since none of this is new to anyone.
