RAT Seattle Fringe
To my fellow Seattle RATs --
Hello from a quiet but loyal voice (OK, silent presence) on the list.
As many of you may be aware, the 1999 Seattle Fringe Theatre Festival
("Brave New Fringe") will soon be upon us, invading 9 venues in Capitol
Hill from March 11-21. I'm writing to encourage you not only to attend,
but also to -- guess what? -- VOLUNTEER. Why? Because I'm the volunteer
coordinator. Plus it's a great way to see Fringe shows for NO MONEY.
For each shift you work (shifts are typically 4.5 to 6 hours long), you
get a free show pass. Plus it's fun. You meet good people. All that. So
call me, Wesley, at (206) 386-1971, and I'll set you up with a sign-up
brochure and/or whatever info you need.
Here's a quick plug for a particularly important, hard-to-fill volunteer
role in which RATs might take special interest: we REALLY REALLY need
folks to help house the members of 8 out-of-town theatre companies from
all over the States & England. These folks are well-behaved,
low-maintenance, interesting, and pleasant, and most of them have cars.
They don't require food or entertainment, just a roof over their heads. If
you have a spare room in your basement, attic, or anywhere else, and
can find it in your heart to share it for all or part of the Festival, you
would earn my eternal gratitude & that of the itinerant Fringers. Plus
you'd earn FOUR FREE PASSES to Fringe shows, plus you'd make some great
out-of-town contacts -- just think, they might just want to collaborate
with you on a project, put you up when you travel thru San Fran or London
or wherever, or produce your show, or bear your children, get you a
movie contract. . .the karmic & creative payoffs could be big. So if you
or anyone you know is game, again, the number is 386-1971.
Thus ends my impassioned plea. Thanks folks --
