RE: RAT Re: [bigcheap] THIS WEEKEND

Alliance canceled Tuesday night's show, then resumed on Wednesday with a
regular performance in one space and an opening night in the other.

I've spent the last day immersed in trying to create a theatrical response
to share with our community, in the same vein that churches are having
spontaneous services to answer their communities' needs. It's looking like
a collage right now, of monologues and scenes from plays (Chuck Mee's
"Trojan Women," Robert Auletta's translation of "The Persians," "The Grapes
of Wrath," "Our Town," Fugard's "Playland," etc.) and readings of some
documents of American identity and peace (the Constitution, Declaration of
Independence maybe, Biblical text, excerpts of the Koran, Thich Nhat Hanh's
14 precepts of engaged Buddhism, etc.) We're going to try and do this
Monday night.

If you have any ideas of pieces for this event, I'd love your input. You're
welcome to email me off-list at megan.monaghan@woodruffcenter.org, or just
reply here.

Everybody be safe. Everybody continue being kind to yourselves and one
another.

I completely agree... I hardly ever say this, but I actually feel like I
WANT to see something this
weekend... just to tap into that life force that the live event gives us...
it's why I haven't wanted to
sit around watching TV: I need to be with other people, if for no other
reason than to be with other
people.
