Re: RAT Re: [bigcheap] THIS WEEKEND
I can't agree on this point. It seems like another example of our
fast-food lives. Disaster Tuesday- Mourn Wednesday- get back to work
Thursday. I'm not in New York or DC, I'm in Philadelphia- but I feel
a need to mourn and to think, and to keep MSNBC on 34 hours a day, and
to write...
I want to feel the enormity not only of what happened, but what is
going to happen. Part of me wants to feel it because I need time to
digest and be alone, part of me wants the time because I suspect it
will be the single largest societal event of my life, and I need to
figure out how to address this new cultural landscape- this feeling
of fear, and dread, and absence- with my art.
There is a large Fringe festival going on here in Philadelphia- as
committed as I am to art, I truly feel the rest of the Festival
should be canceled if for no other reason than to honor those who
died.
