Re: RAT citizens on the West Bank

The void in the landscape is a void inside; the collapse is endogenous.

Constant prayer. Prayer is the bed of action. Act. Act for peace. We're at
war - the war mongering began immediately - was in place for some time...
There has been little peace mongering in this country for generations; we're
left with hearts unprepared for cataclysm.

WHAT WERE WE TAKING PICTURE OF PALESTINIANS FOR ANYWAY immediately after the
blast? I'm not sure what the people in the streets were responding to... In
one picture, the kids were being handed candy by the photographers... But
say they gloried in war: they exulted on streets subject to bombs for many
years. If my local bar was blown up, and my grocery store, if my mailman was
killed, if I were arrested because of my neighborhood and held without a
lawyer fro three weeks, if my niece's grammar school were accidentally
bombed by my own 'side' and then a bomb from who knows where blew up my
barber shop the next day... Maybe I'd raise a fist in celebration on hearing
that the architecture representing the wealth and might of your enemies was
destroyed, because I'm sentimental, and naive, and average. I'll confess
that I might even take pleasure in knowing that those who caused suffering
suffer too. These sensations live is on the instant, before the realities of
bodies set in, before I learn my own were in the buildings... before I tried
to get through by phone to relatives...

The Palestinians are our go-to guys for "godlessness." - The media didn't
really care who did it, they had to get the blood up. Osama, of course, hard
on the heels, then the country that harbors him, then countries in general
that harbor terrorists, and now we've got a quorum - Afghanistan, Sudan, and
maybe Syria. Scratch the Palestinians off the list because if we declare war
on them we might imply they have a country; hating them was a stepping stone
this time.

Living in a world that requires war? That war happens and always will, I'll
grant you, but it's not happening because it's necessary. Where is the
imagination, the blood-deep lust for peace?

We respond to this as citizens of the U.S., but also as citizens of the
world. We are given a sharper picture of the awareness shared by the
majority of the world's population, where life is violently and regularly
assaulted, where life an property are ripped away. We are where we are today
because of genocide, slavery, systematic abuse of labor and the atomization
of community. Couple "what must we do?" with "what must we undo?" This
happened to us and we must respond; "us" and "we" is everyone. War is
capital punishment, and we know how well that works. Our brothers and
sisters have killed other members of the family... do we send our kin,
regardless of guilt, to the chair?

Find the missing. Honor the dead. Make safety as we can with children at the
innermost of our circle.

peace peace, peace
