RAT WE WHO HAVE READ THE GIRL DETECTIVE PRESS RELEASE

All,

This is the fringe show I conceptualized and helped direct. Please come!!!!

invisible cities

"Inspired by a short story by Kelly Link, WE WHO HAVE
READ THE GIRL DETECTIVE launches the Invisible Cities
company into a slightly fantastical world where
missing persons turn up in disguise, memories are
sorted like evidence, and the possibility of growing
up is held in wide-eyed suspension. As in Ms. Link's
story, the world of the play is both familiar and
strange. A lost girl meets a woman with an uncanny
sense of direction and flees from her. A man
afflicted by a fear of underground places takes up
residence in a basement apartment. A woman in dark
glasses shows a strange empathy for waiters. A
fireman composes his memoirs, heedless to a growing
epidemic of thrown fruit.

"Lurking beneath this dreamlike quilt are the central
characters of Ms. Link's story: a girl detective and
her mother playing a game of hide and seek. Invisible
Cities takes up the cause of the girl detective. The
company has read her story, made for itself a place in
her world, and now seeks that missing mother--before
dinner time, or before we're all grown up, whichever
comes first."
