RAT PhilaRatZine

Hi all,

Carolyn West and I are editing and producing a PhilaRatZine.

The first issue will find its topics and subjects from the same ones we 
explored in the recent PhilaRat Conference.

The zine also wants to serve as a form of documentation for Fly By Nights 
and other productions that are either neglected or disserved by the 
"review" format.

This will be an ongoing project and we want it to be both a PhilaRat and 
rat venture so we are soliciting contributors from around country.  We want 
the first issue available for distribution during the Philadelphia Fringe 
this coming September.

We are not seeking the "objective reviewer" with that thumbs up or thumbs 
down judgement on product.  We are seeking deliberate reflections and 
evaluations by experienced actors, directors, playwrights, dramaturgs, and 
others about the work in which they are involved.   The zine will include 
the critical contemplation on a standard production but will also include 
examinations on the value and documentations of 10-minute play festivals, 
fringefests, classes, workshops, rat conferences, awards and other ventures 
of the theater community.

We are conceptualizing this zine even as we are producing it.  We see it as 
an alternative to the press and criticism that currently exists, but other 
than that we are just beginning.  Anyone interested in submitting a piece 
and/or contributing to the editorial process please contact Carolyn
