when i was doing RANT, i came to that crossroads...if
i continued, it would have to get 'slicker' and more
mainstream...there was too much demand, in a sense.
but instead of trying to do more, i did less. i
retired it. however, what i did was continue the same
"energy" into other projects. in a sense, i broke the
momentum of RANT into different parts, sort of like a
corporation breaking up into smaller companies...i
used the energy to spread the "current" outwards (on
the web, doing other zines, speaking at conferences,
doing or setting up readings, etc.).

maybe as RAT grows, it becomes like a nest full of
birds ready to fly away and start their own nests.
imagine RAT regularly swelling up, and then releasing
some RATS to go off and continue the current of RAT so
that instead of having one giant entity that reaches
critical mass and then goes no further, you have a
healthy entity that constantly propels (influences)
parts of itself to grow into variations of itself so
that we "surround the center".

btw: "anarchy vs. organization" is somewhat
misleading. anarchy can be organized...but it's not
coerced, forced or manipulated, and it builds no
permanent hierarchies (though i believe that to
accomplish things sometimes requires a momentary
fascist to appear!). at wooden shoe, we used to have a
sign that said, "neatness is not
counter-revolutionary".
