Re: RAT Non-profit or for-profit?
Gosh, I guess that I feel that, probably, neither is easy! The thing that PWP did for many years (until
this past December) was to join a non-profit that offered us their fiscal sponsorship (often called a
fiscal conduit or umbrella organization), so when we wanted/needed non-profit status - (so that we could
get grants or so that our donors' contributions were tax deductible), it was taken care of. I don't know if
any bigger companies or arts service organizations in NC offer that, but check into it.
Finally, after over 7 years, it seemed that being officially not-for-profit would be useful to our company,
so we did it. But I'd say don't hurry - worry about the work first, and let the administration follow
organically...
