Re: RAT Politics and Theatre
Greetings, Doug R,
Which reminds me...
Maybe an aspect of this rat meet could be a clarification of commitment
to the formation of local cells. BCT is a model of rat politics in action;
it's been a summer dream to watch Philarat come together (knowing that
summer and dreams ain't easy); maybe SF will cohere... Then the rat
challenge announced last year still stands: I think it was a Snickers bar or
something along those lines to whoever puts together a mass action by May
2002 (how many are we?). I'm pulling for a May Day rally in St. Louis;
remain intrigued by Allison N's persistent interest in choreographing
countless hands/plus Russian Naval battles. Then too follow through meetings
in Providence and Fla - (possibilities that have come up in the past; still
hanging?).
Early yet to think about what's next... but not. Helps with sense of
mo?
Re: internet and theater - good performance pieces have been done using
typewriters, phones, letters... but more as a way of counting coup on other
media than on permanently opening the form? All these messages, all this
information, all this busy-ness and speed is procrastination: prior to the
live moment past words/intention/future? Talking about love as a way of
avoiding the responsibilities of love? Speed as a substitute for
simultanaety? (Accelleration willnever equal union.) But this is a
newcomer's view of the medium... I'm still seeing computers as a very shiny
telegraph, and may learn better down the road.
