this has been an interesting thread. when i read the
above, i thought about the role that location plays.
if you take street theater and move it onto a broadway
stage, most of us would agree that its level of
"political activism" has probably shifted at least a
bit, if not completely. conversely, performing Les
Miserables in the street may or may not be so clearly
an act of political activism (the act of liberating
the street, creating art in the mundane, setting up a
TAZ, etc...may be political actions, of course).
seems to me that the juncture where theatre and
political activism intersect is a unique point that is
synergetic.
