Re: RAT virus alert is a hoax
Hey, Rats!
I started all this when I sent the message I got from another gullible guy,
a chiropractor and acupuncturist, and when I followed directions I found the
offending SULFNBK.EXE exactly where they said it would be. Against the still
small voice within--don't ask my why, goddamnit--I deleted the fucker, wiped
it out. Then, I sent the message on to everyone I'd e-mailed in the past few
months. Shit. Try me at Neurenberg, I was just following orders.
BUT--when the good news came about it being a hoax and all, and I'd sent
that on to everyone on my list again, I tried to restore ol' SULFNBK.EXE
from my Windows 98 back-up CD, and guess what? It isn't on there. Doesn't
exist. So either this is a fine example of the new economy selling computers
so fast it doesn't match back-ups with what's installed on the
machines...OR...it's not a hoax...OR...it's a brilliant hoax. Whatever, it
seems I will live without SULFNBK.EXE for the duration. Sort of like losing
a tooth, I guess. Doesn't stop you from eating, really. You just chew around
the gap.
