Re: RAT Cripples, in your face)
Brad et al;
On a more encouraging note, here in Denver we have two theatre companies
that do shows and cast *only* the physiaclly disadvantaged. They are both
quite well recieved and supported, and what's more, they do GREAT work.
Also- This fall the King Center was opened. A joint effort of the
University of Colorado-Denver ( my alma mater), The Metropolitan Sate
College of Denver and the Community College of Denver, and the Auraria
Student Union ( Auraria is a huge campus in the middle of the city that all
three schools share...). Until then, all three schools shared makeshift
black-boxes and fought over classroom and studio space while all three
schools experienced unprecedented growth- including the increasing
enrollment of 'disabled' students. The new facility not only houses several
tv studios, several rehearsal spaces and two fully equipped theatres, ALL
THE FACILITIES, INCLUDING THE LIGHT GRID, BACKSTAGE AREAS AND STAGE
ENTRANCES ARE FULLY ACCESSIBLE .
So, there is SOME hope.
