Personally, 
I merely took the 'he' to reflect the writer/speaker, not all writers at 
large, and expanded the group to include myself.

Its a pretty small world if we don't stretch those boundaries ourselves, I 
think...

P.S. .... who will soon be playing a most notorious HE of history - Pontius 
Pilate. In the 75+ performances of the piece, NO ONE has ever remarked on the 
fact that a woman is playing a man. That's seems pretty gender-neutral to me. 
(And they've even liked me! They've really liked me! - as much as one can 
like - or at least empathise with - him.)
